Un oficial de cumplimiento es la persona responsable de que la empresa cumpla con sus obligaciones regulatorias: diseñar políticas, vigilar su aplicación, gestionar riesgos y reportar operaciones cuando la ley lo exige. No es un cargo decorativo: responde ante la autoridad por el programa de cumplimiento de la empresa.

A compliance officer is the person responsible for the company meeting its regulatory obligations: designing policies, overseeing their application, managing risk, and reporting transactions when the law requires it. It isn't a decorative title: they answer to the authority for the company's compliance program.

Si tu empresa es un sujeto obligado bajo la normativa de prevención de blanqueo de capitales, la ley te exige designar un oficial de cumplimiento Panamá. Fuera de esos casos, muchas empresas lo incorporan igual porque el volumen de obligaciones regulatorias ya no cabe en la agenda del dueño o del gerente.

If your company is an obligated subject under anti-money laundering rules, the law requires you to designate a compliance officer. Outside those cases, many companies bring one in anyway because the volume of regulatory obligations no longer fits on the owner's or manager's agenda.

No toda empresa necesita contratar un oficial de cumplimiento a tiempo completo. En muchos casos, la función se cubre de forma externa o compartida, con la misma responsabilidad legal pero sin la carga de una plaza permanente. Lo importante es que el rol exista de verdad, no solo en el organigrama.

Not every company needs to hire a full-time compliance officer. In many cases, the function is covered externally or shared, with the same legal responsibility but without the weight of a permanent position. What matters is that the role actually exists, not just on the org chart.
